Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland - Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is a quick service restaurant offering lunch and dinner options. The largest counter service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom, Cosmic Ray's is located in Tomorrowland, across from Tomorrowland Speedway. They do not accept reservations, but they do participate in the Disney Dining Plan. This is a very popular dining location, and crowds are the norm here. Luckily there is plenty of seating, both outdoors and indoors. I won't say I've never had to hunt down a free table at Cosmic Ray's, but I can't recall finding nowhere to seat on any of my many visits to this location. Prime seating tends to be in the viewing area for Cosmic Ray's unique dinner entertainment, Sonny Eclipse, an audio-animatronic lounge singer. If you have your heart set on sitting in this section, plan on demonstrating patience. Scout out a table before you order your food. Send a family representative to order while another holds your coveted table. Voila - dinner (or lunch) and a show!

Even with the addition of entertainment, my standard "quick service" perspectives apply... Quick service restaurants at Disney may have an original menu item or theme that vary by location, but certain facts are generally reliable to count on wherever you dine. For starters, the french fries are the same all across the resort, and they're just okay. If you want to improve them, look for restaurants that have a cheese or ranch sauce, or something similar to top or dip in. Another standard - you can expect to rub elbows with your neighboring park guest when seated. Disney has made it a point to cram every last seat into their dining establishments that they can manage.

Cosmic Ray's is another restaurant that has a stellar toppings bar! Always check to see if your chosen quick service establishment offers one of these, because they really can liven up a so-so meal and make it quite good! You'll also find a bit more variety and organization at Cosmic Ray's. Why we don't see this set up more often at Disney, I can't even imagine. Cosmic Ray's is divided into three "bays", each serving different menu items. If your family is like mine, everyone wants something different, and here you can all divide and conquer, to reconvene at the same table for a shared dining experience. Success!

The Cosmic Ray's menu offers a welcome variety, divided by the three service "bays". Bay 1 features pork and chicken favorites. Bay 2 serves burgers and hot dogs. Bay 3 offers sandwiches, soups and salads. Meals will generally run $15 or less.

*TOP PICK - The barbecue pork sandwich is phenomenally tasty, and surprisingly easy to eat for barbecue. The burger options include vegetarian, bacon, cheese, and did I mention THE TOPPING BAR? Either of these sandwiches score for a top pick, and each come with a side for around $10!

Peruse the entire Cosmic Ray's menu before your visit!

In order to keep my blog honest, I do not accept pay for any event or attraction I review. If you enjoy reading my blog, please help it grow! Even a $1.00 donation goes a long way. Thank you in advance.
