Fun Spot America and Gatorland - A HUGE Partnership

Last week, two of Orlando's attraction superpowers joined forces in an ambitious partnership. When Gatorland meets Fun Spot, Gator Spot is the exciting result!

Gator Spot will take up residence within Fun Spot America's Orlando location. And a sizable residence it will be - 15,000 square feet, to be exact! The new joint attraction is a one million dollar investment that is sure to pay off for the masters of all things HUGE, and all things wild. Gatorland President/CEO Mark McHugh said it best - "This is a perfect fit".

The hefty price tag doesn't reflect the cost of admission, however. Guests will be able to enjoy Gator Spot's unique amusements for only $6.

Gator Spot will feature various species of alligators and crocodiles (a highlight being the rare leucistic white alligator), along with other creepy, crawly reptilian representatives of the animal kingdom. Close encounters and photo opportunities will be offered for those who dare. Some of Gatorland's famous tropical birds will be making their way to Gator Spot as well.

Congressman Daniel Webster and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer were among those on-hand to celebrate the Gator Spot groundbreaking on January 20 with Fun Spot Chief Operating Officer John Arie, Jr., and CEO John Arie, Sr.

As part of the groundbreaking event, Fun Spot America offered free unlimited ride wristbands to all guests in attendance for the ceremony. Although my family has long been familiar with Fun Spot's Kissimmee location, this was our first visit to the Orlando park. The family-owned attraction truly managed to strike gold twice, with both locations offering an abundance of amusements for all ages and adventure-levels.

One of the highlights of the Fun Spot America parks is their phenomenal approach to go-karting. Multiple tracks of varying intensity intertwine in a twisted conglomeration. Color-coding helps to distinguish the tracks, as they rise, fall, and weave majestically. If a flat track is more your speed, might I suggest The Thrasher?

... Or test your skills at the "figure 8" Conquest track, rising over The Thrasher.

The Commander and Quad Helix are multi-level tracks featuring extreme heights by karting standards, as well as corkscrews, and dramatically banked curves.

But Fun Spot is much more than go-karts. The park is home to an arcade, midway games, kiddie rides, traditional amusements, and a pair of impressive coasters! Here's a quick peek at just a few of the fun spots at Fun Spot America...
And let's not forget the 250 foot SkyCoaster (the world's second tallest - topped only by the Kissimmee Fun Spot SkyCoaster, which stands a whopping 300 feet tall)!

While a date has not been set for the Gator Spot opening, Fun Spot America will continue normal park operation during the construction project. There is no admission charge at the Fun Spot parks, parking is free, and ride experiences can be purchased on an individual or unlimited basis for a reasonable cost. If you just can't wait to check out the gators, head over to Gatorland in Kissimmee for a taste of what's to come!
