Madame Tussauds Orlando - Spend a Day Among the Stars of Yesterday and Today

Last month, I provided an overview of the newest Madame Tussauds exhibit, which is coming to Orlando's I-Drive 360. As promised, I have an update, as well as an exclusive preview!

A press conference was held on February 17, providing details on the Grand Opening of Madame Tussauds, as well as The Orlando Eye, and SEA LIFE Aquarium. All three attractions will be officially open to the public on May 4, 2015 - with a special preview event May 1-3 to a limited number of randomly selected guests who have subscribed to the attractions' newsletters. It's not too late - sign up today for your chance to be one of the first to experience these unique new experiences at I-Drive 360! Direct links are conveniently located right here: The Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE. Tickets for the I-Drive 360 attractions can be purchased individually, or in combination, and are available for advance purchase online at The Orlando Eye website. Prices are as follows:

  • One Attraction: $25 for adults/$20 for children (12 and under)
  • Two Attractions: $39 for adults/$34 for children (12 and under)
  • Three Attractions: $49 for adults/$44 for children (12 and under)
  • Three Attractions and LEGOLAND Florida: $99 for adults/$94 for children (12 and under)
Following the Grand Opening announcements, media guests were treated to a preview tour of the Madame Tussaud's exhibit. Not all of the Orlando figures were on display, but most were already in place and ready for a grand debut. Join me on this tour through Madame Tussaud's Orlando...

Before we entered the exhibit, we were treated to the unveiling of a new, surprise wax figure - Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson from the hit CBS series How I Met Your Mother.
This is the area that "Barney" will call home. Look familiar, How I Met Your Mother fans?
Tom Hanks was waiting to greet us as we entered the exhibit. Personally, I was particularly anxious for this one. Being my first visit to any Madame Tussaud's location, I was instantly impressed by the impressive attention to detail. I wouldn't have been surprised if he "came to life" to shake my hand. This set the tone for the sights to come - one figure more lifelike than the next!
Figures are divided into themed rooms throughout the exhibit.
  • A-List Party
  • TV
  • Music
  • Film
  • Arts and Science
  • Sports
  • History and Leaders
Let's take a walk through history with some of our most famous, influential leaders, starting right here in Florida. As you enter the exhibit, you'll experience the earliest days of the settlement of Florida with Juan Ponce de Leon. Cannon blasts greet you as you arrive, complete with smoke effects - the sounds of the sea surrounding you...
From here, you'll experience a patriotic journey through early Americana with Uncle Sam and Abraham Lincoln. The settings beckon guests to become part of the action with props and decor to utilize for cleverly planned photos.
Whether you were alive to witness it firsthand or not, you'll have the chance to experience the inspiring drama of Neil Armstrong's moon walk. On our preview, we were left to imagine the gravity of this set - as Neil Armstrong was apparently still in orbit for now.
Continuing down the path of great leaders, admire the tributes to some of our ground-breaking, progressive notables, such as Martin Luther King Jr. and President Barack Obama.
I have to admit, I felt rather powerful taking prime seating in The Oval Office!
On to some of our most brilliant minds behind the inventions and innovations in arts and science, such as Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Andy Warhol, and Steve Jobs.
Even Madame Tussaud herself is on display in a workroom displaying the skills of her fine-tuned craft. As her ideals were passed down to many creative artists, one was on hand performing touch-ups.
Sports legends from every playing field serve as athletic ambassadors. Included in this active array are David Beckham, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Muhammad Ali, Dan Marino, Serena Williams, Shaquille O'Neal, Tiger Woods, and Derek Jeter.
I spent a good amount of time examining Shaq. The spot-on detail was admirable - from the face, to those well-known feet!

From the stadium, round the tour bus for a genre-crossing, multi-generational musical tour!
They even added a royal duo, one of which I have to confess, I have a lifelong obsession with.
Just look at those dreamy eyes!
On to some of the most recognizable faces in television and film - Jennifer Lopez, Oprah Winfrey, and Sofia Vergara are in very familiar settings.
When it comes to Vin Diesel, they paid exceptionally close attention to those notable muscles!
Bask in a glamorous moment with Marilyn Monroe...
...or enjoy Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn!
Get your boogie on with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as Danny and Sandy from Grease.
...or perfect your fighting stance with Jackie Chan!
Steven Spielberg proudly welcomes you to visit some of his most famous sets.
Naturally, after your film experience, you'll expect to make an appearance on the Red Carpet with Taylor Lautner and Selena Gomez.
...and this will lead you directly into the A-List Party - where the hottest stars of television and film await your arrival! Join Johnny Depp, Ryan Reynolds, Morgan Freeman, Emma Watson, Leonardo Di Caprio, Ryan Gosling, and Anne Hathaway for the party of the century!
Or wait for the fireworks between this awkwardly close trio....
Many of us will never have the chance to experience this level of star power firsthand. In fact, some of these famous faces are no longer among the living! But here, at Madame Tussauds, you can hobnob like a snob - with some of the most recognizable people of yesterday and today. Certainly there's someone here you'd love to rub elbows with. Who tops your must-see list? You'll have your chance - starting in May! Figures do rotate, with new figures making appearances every few months or so. Check back often - you never know who you may encounter at Madame Tussauds!
