Orlando Cat Cafe - Coming Soon to Clermont

I find every reasonable excuse to venture out and explore my surroundings. It's never a wasted journey when you live in this area, after all. On my most recent excursion, I discovered something that sent my entire family into a frenzy - Orlando Cat Cafe!

Orlando Cat Cafe will be opening soon in Cagan Crossings Town Center, located on US 27 near 192. Cagan Crossings Town Center is a unique and intriguing location itself - a community combining residential space with shops, restaurants and more. Orlando Cat Cafe will occupy a corner space in the complex that was previously home to Anytime Fitness.

If the cat cafe concept is mew to you, you're not alone. My daughter practically jumped out of her skin when she saw the building. I, however, was clueless. My daughter is very tuned in to Japanese culture and trends. She proceeded to tell me all about the popularity of cat cafes in Tokyo, and how desperately she wanted to see that catch on in America. A few of them have popped up in the U.S., including locations in New York, Seattle and California. Now, Florida is on track to welcome its very first cat cafe, right here in Orlando!
Cat cafes have been around since 1998. They are cafes with a twist - feline hosts! They offer you the option to enjoy coffee with a cuddle, so to speak. Guests can mingle with adoptable kittens and cats while enjoying a cup of coffee, tea or a snack.
Cats will be kept in a separate area at Orlando Cat Cafe. Guests will have the option to remain in the feline-free dining area and observe the cats through glass, or mingle directly with the residents in the 997 square foot play area. An average of 15 cats will reside at Orlando Cat Cafe at any given time, and they will all be adoptable! South Lake Animal League will provide the cats, as well as oversee their care and adoption. The cats will have a completely separate area to retreat to when they aren't feeling up to socializing - an area that is off-limits to guests. The current business plan will likely involve an hourly fee to spend time in the play area. This fee will go directly to the cats, and South Lake Animal League, and it may be waived with a minimum purchase from the cafe.

The cafe will carry gifts, souvenirs, and other related products in a retail area, as well as food and drinks from Winter Garden's Axum Coffee Shop. Axum has a spectacular reputation for high-quality products, so the combination of a progressive business model from Cagan Management Group with the talents of Axum and the heart of South Lake Animal League stands to be a dynamic success.
Orlando Cat Cafe does not yet have a solid opening date, but there is a potential target set for late spring. While the space is in excellent shape, new interior walls have to be erected to segment the areas of the cafe. For health and sanitary reasons, multiple doors and obstructions will be in place partitioning food and beverage areas from cat-accessible zones. Guests may choose to bring their cafe items into the play area, but food and beverage service will not be offered there directly.

Events will be a creative highlight at Orlando Cat Cafe. Perhaps you'd enjoy some cat yoga, or Harry Potter storytelling with cat companions. Holidays are always better with cats as well, so consider the cafe for a 'Happy Mew Year' to welcome 2017!

Senior Vice President of Cagan Management Group, Florida Sandra Cagan is the person responsible for bringing the idea of a cat cafe to Central Florida. Her passion for the project is evident and admirable, and she has armed herself with impressive partners to bring it to life. I have to agree with her outlook on the cafe - if you're a cat seeking a forever home in the Central Florida area, this is absolutely the place you'll want to be. For that matter, if you're a cat lover, this will be your happy place as well! As a family of animal lovers, we're already wondering if we can get Orlando Cat Cafe to consider offering sleepover parties. Did I mention they'll be offering the space for events?? A birthday party with built-in kitty guests?? Yes, please!

Stay tuned to ComeSeeOrlando.com for updates, and follow Orlando Cat Cafe on Facebook and Twitter. This place will be pawsitively purrfect!
