Pokémon Day at Dr. Phillips Center Sunday, April 30: Symphonic Evolutions, Free MiniCon and More

Free Event on Seneff Arts Plaza and Special Behind-the-Scenes Educational Programming for local students in tandem with performance of Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions


Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating all things Pokémon with three special events happening on the arts center campus on Sunday, April 30, 2017:

1)    Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra
2 p.m., Walt Disney Theater, Tickets start at $26.00

Brought to life by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra performing all new arrangements and carefully-timed visuals from new and classic Pokémon video games. Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions has become the must-see video game concert, giving fans and newcomers of all ages a chance to experience the evolution of the Pokémon franchise like never before, while specifically providing a great introduction to the symphonic world for children and adults alike.


2)    FREE Pokémon MiniCon 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Seneff Arts Plaza
  • Four Food Trucks
  • Pokémon Go Lures thrown out onto the plaza
  • Card trading/playing stations
  • Vendors on the plaza representing Pokémon and other gaming merchandise
  • Live Entertainment
  • Cosplay Contest
    • Guests are invited to come dressed as their favorite Pokémon character and can enter to win a contest taking place at 11:30 a.m.
    • Entrants will be judged by participating vendors and local favorite personalities such as PikaBelleChu
    • One winner will be chosen at noon and announced on the Plaza. The winner receives an official Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions and MiniCon poster, as well as 2 tickets to the performance. If the winner has previously purchased tickets, they will receive food & beverage vouchers for 2 guests throughout the performance. 

3)    Behind-The-Scenes Music & Video Instruction with Full Sail & Rollins Students
10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Walt Disney Theater

Approximately 100 students, from Full Sail University & Rollins College who are currently pursuing music, video and/or show production-related degrees will get a unique backstage learning experience surrounding Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions. They are set to be engaged in unique aspects of the entire production: studying the scores and orchestrations of the musical arrangements alongside the conductor, editing video in order to effectively sync graphics and music, and learning the business behind marketing and presenting a show.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization operating the state-of-the-art performing arts center in downtown Orlando, Florida.
