DOZENS OF ACTION PACKED SPECIAL EVENTS PLANNED FOR RESCHEDULED FLORIDA RESTAURANT AND LODGING SHOW

Celebrity Chefs to be Featured on Center Stage


Orlando, FL October 5, 2017 - After an unexpected delay of date due to the impact of Hurricane Irma, The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Show is back on track to provide an excellent event for the restaurant and foodservice industry. The show will be held Wednesday, October 11 through Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

"We hope everyone in the path of the hurricane, including all the restaurant and foodservice professionals who play a role in making the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Show the spectacular event it is, stayed safe and are well," says Tom Loughran, Show Director. "Urban Expositions and the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association are excited to host another incredible show, and despite the delay, we know our exhibitors, attendees and sponsors will make this the best show yet."



"On the opening night of the Show, we are looking forward to hosting the Hospitality Stars of the Industry Celebration at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. We will celebrate hospitality's finest and highlight the exceptional service delivered by our colleagues," said Carol Dover, President and CEO, The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. "The evening will include a special tribute to Hurricane Irma response, recovery and relief efforts. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Florida Disaster Fund, the State of Florida's official private fund established to provide support to Florida's communities in times of disaster." Attendees can also look forward to the three full days of events at this year's show including the tasting adventure of the Food Trends Experience, the World Class Culinary Competitions presented by the American Culinary Federation/Central Florida Chapter, Ice Carving Competition, 30+ education sessions, new workshops and the themed pavilions such as the Healthy Pavilion, Beer, Wine and Spirits Pavilion and more.

  • 1:00PM - Art Smith, Celebrity Chef and Humanitarian will prepare HummingBird Cake and Dessert Conversations with Art
  • 2:15PM - Beacon Award Presentation to Carol B. Dover, President and CEO, the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association
  • 2:30PM - Foodservice Council for Women panel discussion that connects and promotes women leaders in the foodservice industry.
  • 3:30PM - Rapid Fire Challenge: Key Lime Edition - three chefs will demonstrate their dish and provide samples for the judges and the audience.

Thursday, October 12, 2017
  • 12:00PM - Michelle Bernstein, Chef and Owner, Crumb on Parchment and Michelle Bernstein Catering; 2017 Florida Restaurant and Lodging Show Torch Award Honoree
Culinary Demonstration: Mexican Style Shrimp Ceviche Churrasco "Kalbi" with Jicama Slaw
  • 3:00PM - Elliott Farmer, Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen and author of cookbooks, Entertaining Solutions and Soulstice Recipes. Chef will prepare Shrimp and Hominy Grits.
  • 4:00PM - Emanuel Washington, Jr. a.k.a Chef Manny FD, Contestant on Cutthroat Kitchen, Chef will prepare Bread Pudding with a Marshmallow Sauce and Vanilla Cream Sauce and a Fruit Flambe.

Culinary Demonstration: Banana Split "Cupcake Sticks" 
  • 2:00PM - Kim Livengood, CCO, The Eclipse Agency will moderate "Shake it Up! Reach Your Clientele through Mixology" where she will share tips and tricks for promoting your bar while guests can sample a craft cocktail.
