BILL NYE, DONNY & MARIE, AUGUST GREENE WITH COMMON, AND NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS COMING TO DR. PHILLIPS CENTER

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 19,  2018) — Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced an exciting variety of shows going on sale this week: An Evening With Bill Nye, Donny & Marie Summer 2018 Tour, August Greene featuring Common, Robert Glasper & Karriem Riggins, and Disney in Concert: Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. and may be purchased online at drphillipscenter.org, by calling 844.513.2014 or by visiting the Dr. Phillips Center Box Office at 445 S. Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday. Online and phone ticket purchases are subject to handling fees.

America’s beloved sibling entertainers will bring their show to the Dr. Phillips Center this summer. 

Donny and Marie mix the spirit of their early television specials and recordings with a nostalgic look back on their storied career in a dynamic stage show showcasing fan favorites including “A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock ‘n Roll,” “Paper Roses,” “Puppy Love” and “It Takes Two.” 

In addition to doing concerts in America and around the world, Donny and Marie continue an extraordinary run at the legendary Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. They were named Best Show by the Las Vegas Review Journal for three years in a row. Entertainment Weekly raved that their live performance is “INSANELY ENTERTAINING.  A song and dance spectacular.” 

With their trademark show-stopping production numbers, Donny & Marie feature hits from their illustrious careers, all mixed with the irresistible chemistry that made them international stars.

The perfect marriage of jazz, Hip Hop and soul, August Greene is the newly formed supergroup featuring Grammy®, Oscar®, Golden Globe® and Emmy Award®–winning emcee Common, Houston-born, Grammy Award®–winning pianist and composer Robert Glasper, and world-renowned percussionist and producer Karriem Riggins. The synthesis of each artist’s talents into one cohesive project and the culmination of years of mutual respect and friendship, August Greene is fluid in terms of sound and a meditative offering that speaks to those pushing through the dark for brighter days. 

The band delivers the ethereal sounds of Glasper on the piano, coupled with Riggins’s impeccable drumming, Common’s honest lyrics alongside Burniss Travis on bass, Samora Pinderhughes on additional keys and vocals, and DJ Dummy.

Experience Tim Burton’s cult classic with the score by Danny Elfman performed live.  When Jack Skellington, Halloweentown’s pumpkin king, accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role.  But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.
