CHECK OUT WHAT’S NEW DURING YOUR NEXT NAVARRE BEACH “RELAXATION” VACATION

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (March 14, 2019) – In Navarre Beach we always give a warm welcome back to return visitors to “Florida’s Most Relaxing Place.”  We’re also proud to say “hello, we’re glad you’re here” to those just discovering us. Whether you’re a first timer or repeat guest, come check out some of what we’re pleased to share is fresh and different here since last vacation season…

Over $2 million in Navarre Beach Marine Park upgrades will be completed by late April. Key project elements on the Santa Rosa Sound side of the park include additional parking, improved access for individuals with disabilities, and three new boardwalks, including one featuring a canoe/kayak launch. On our Gulf shore side, enhancements include construction of a third pavilion, new picnic area, additional restrooms and parking, plus a new boardwalk.

Also just in time for summer (in mid-June) the nearly million-dollar Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge will open. In addition to an educational building, the refuge will feature a state-of-the-art medical facility for rehabilitating native wildlife.  There will be more than 20 specialized outdoor habitats housing “animal ambassadors” as well as those recovering from treatment. Most of the habitats will be viewable via a boardwalk and nature trail. Bald eagles, tortoises, raptors and manatees will be among those housed here. Emeraldcoastwildliferefuge.org. Speaking of wildlife…A family of six Orangutans arrived at the Gulf Breeze Zoo earlier this year.  It’s a homecoming for two of the primates, the mother-daughter duo of Sara and Indah.  The expanding zoo family also includes a new baby Giant Anteater, and a baby Giraffe born Feb 10 named Kai. Why not pay them and all the other zoo residents a visit. While there, feed the goats, birds and giraffes, and take the zoo train ride too. GBzoo.com. 5701 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze.

The region’s popular Dewey Destin’s seafood restaurant has opened an eatery in Navarre Beach.  They’re serving up reasonably priced grilled, fried and steamed seafood, along with sandwiches, salads and more in a great family-friendly atmosphere. Dewey Destin’s Navarre overlooks the Santa Rosa Sound at 8673 Navarre Pkwy. www.destinseafood.com

And at the Arcadia Mill archeological site, Florida's first "modern industrial complex," the Arcadia Homestead house has been opened to the public.  The resorted Simpson House Museum and walk along paths with interpretive signage teaches about the antebellum community of mill owners and enslaved laborers.  Inside the House, visitors experience life as it was 100 years later, during the Great Depression; it features a multi-sensory exhibit and docents are on hand to answer questions.  4775 Anna Simpson Road, Milton.

It’s easier than ever to get to Navarre Beach.  Nearby Pensacola International Airport (PNS) is now served by six airlines: American, Delta, Frontier, Silver, Southwest and United. While  you can fly into Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) via Allegiant, American, Delta, Silver and United. Both airports are barely 30 miles from Navarre Beach!

Not only has Navarre Beach tourism grown these past two years, so has the list of awards and accolades since we rebranded as “Florida’s Most Relaxing Place.” MSN calls Navarre Beach a “Spring Break Destination to Escape the Crowds” 2018; USA Today cited it among “The Best Uncrowded Snorkeling Beaches in Florida;” it also earned the #12  spot by TripAdvisor's Traveler's Choice survey for "Top 25 Beaches - United States" 2018 and FamilyVacationCritic calls it a “best family vacation” and included it in their 2019 ranking of “10 Secret Florida Vacation Spots You Never Knew About.” In 2017 Navarre Beach rated #6 out of 365 worldwide beaches by Travel+Leisure magazine, and was also listed as one of “The South’s Best Tiny Towns” by Southern Living Magazine 2017.
