TENNESSEE - DOLLYWOOD’S GREAT PUMPKIN LUMINIGHTS GROWS IN 2018


Popular event expands after last season’s glowing reviews

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Monday, October 24, 2018) — The glow grows during the return of Great Pumpkin LumiNights at Dollywood’s Harvest Festival presented by Humana. An overwhelming guest-favorite last season, Great Pumpkin LumiNights returns with several new immersive displays, exciting activities and an expanded footprint more than twice the size of 2017’s version. Additionally, the Harvest Festival itself grows with six additional operating days for families to enjoy.

Dollywood opens every day Sept. 28- Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. giving guests more time to enjoy the festive fall fun of harvest time in the Smokies. After the glowing reviews of last year’s Great Pumpkin LumiNights, Dollywood officials knew the event was ripe for growth. Last year’s popular pumpkin displays—like the pumpkin spider and the pumpkin dance party—are joined in 2018 by a number of elaborate, new additions, including a couple of Dolly Parton-inspired displays.

TENNESSEE - DOLLYWOOD ANNOUNCES LARGEST PARK EXPANSION IN HISTORY WITH NEW LAND NAMED WILDWOOD GROVE


PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Friday, August 3, 2018)— One of the nation’s premier family vacation destinations is growing even larger, thanks to an impressive expansion announced today at Dollywood by Dolly Parton and park officials. Wildwood Grove, the largest capital investment in Dollywood’s 32-year history, is slated to open in 2019 and provides an adventurous journey for guests to explore, imagine and play together as a family.

The extraordinary new land features 11 thrilling experiences for guests, comprised of six unique ride attractions—including a suspended family roller coaster called The Dragonflier— the 55 ft. tall Wildwood Tree, live entertainment, various indoor and outdoor play areas for families to enjoy, a new restaurant and more. The total cost for the project is $37 million, meeting The Dollywood Company’s 2013 commitment of $300 million in investments over a 10 year period four years ahead of schedule.

TENNESSEE - AMERICAN CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT COMES TO DOLLYWOOD’S SPLASH COUNTRY


Event organizers looking for 160 teams to compete for cash prize

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (July 31, 2018)—Pool time and cornhole is a winning combination. Never has that been truer than now as American Cornhole Organization (ACO) Champions are coming to Dollywood’s Splash Country to compete in the debut of the ACO Dollywood Classic for a guaranteed $7500 total prize purse!

Fresh off their world championship bid last weekend in Montgomery, Alabama, several professional teams turn their attention to their next test during the debut event at Dollywood’s Splash Country. The water park hosts this sanctioned tournament on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Event organizers are looking for 160 two-person teams to play in the double-elimination tournament, and while there are a number of ACO teams planning to play, the field is not set. Officials with the ACO say there is room for the general public to register and join the star-studded competition. TENNESSEE - DOLLYWOOD CELEBRATES “STAR-SPANGLED SUMMER”

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Monday, July 2, 2018)— Dollywood celebrates a Star-Spangled Summer as part of its ongoing Summer Celebration (now-Aug. 5) which features extended park hours—10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily—as well as a nightly fireworks extravaganza and a number of patriotic events to help guests enjoy family, fun and freedom during their time making memories at the park.

Thursdays in July, Dollywood and WIVK team up to present America’s New Faces of Country, a special concert series featuring several country music stars on the rise. These shows provide park guests a special opportunity to catch these artists as they begin working their way up the country charts.

At Dollywood’s shows during Star-Spangled Summer, the park plans to recognize service members in the audience for their dedication to protecting our country. Additionally, several of those same shows will include a number of patriotic songs for guests to enjoy.  

Thanks to the American Eagle Foundation (AEF), park guests also have the opportunity to meet one of America’s greatest symbols of freedom, the bald eagle. On select days in July, staff members from the AEF host meet-and-greet sessions throughout the day with several of their featured bald eagles at the Plaza at Wilderness Pass.

TENNESSEE - EXTRAORDINARY BLUEGRASS ENTERTAINMENT, TASTY BARBEQUE HEADLINE DOLLYWOOD’S ANNUAL FESTIVAL MAY 25- JUNE 10

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Monday, May 21, 2018) —Dollywood’s Season of Showstoppers really heats up during Barbeque & Bluegrass presented by BUSH’S®, thanks to a stellar lineup of bluegrass music’s best artists as well as expertly-prepared barbeque from Dollywood’s Golden Ticket Award-winning foods team.

The opening weekend of the festival kicks off with The Gibson Brothers (May 25) and the “Queen of Bluegrass” Rhonda Vincent & The Rage (May 26-27).  Dailey & Vincent (May 29-30), Molly Tuttle (May 31) and The Seldom Scene (June 5) are among the headliners during the festival. Seven-time International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Vocal Group of the Year Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver (June 7) also makes an appearance during the event.

“When I decided this would be the Season of Showstoppers,” Dolly Parton began, “I couldn’t wait to see what kind of talent our folks would be able to round up to perform during my Barbeque & Bluegrass festival. BUSH’S®, based in nearby Knoxville, Tennessee, now serves as presenting sponsor of Dollywood’s annual Barbeque & Bluegrass festival. The event, which runs May 25-June 10 this season, features the biggest names in bluegrass music, alongside expertly-prepared barbeque.

TENNESSEE - DOLLYWOOD’S AUNT GRANNY’S RESTAURANT RECAST WITH NEW LOOK, MENU ITEMS

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Wednesday, March 21, 2018)— One of Dollywood’s best-known restaurants has been recast in 2018 with a little help from another iconic Tennessee brand, Lodge Manufacturing Company. Aunt Granny’s All-You-Care-To-Eat Buffet, which earned its name from the loving nickname Dolly Parton’s nieces and nephews have called her for years, receives a fresh look this season complete with new menu items which will have guests ready to pull a seat up to the table.

Now named Aunt Granny’s Restaurant presented by Lodge, the eatery features a number of changes designed to create a bright and airy space to serve as a comfortable respite for guests to slow down and enjoy a meal together. Interior renovations include action stations, like a new carving station, where guests can watch Dollywood chefs create a number of delightful delicacies.

TENNESSEE - GRAMMY AWARD WINNERS, FORMER DANCING WITH THE STARS PERFORMERS HIGHLIGHT DOLLYWOOD’S FESTIVAL OF NATIONS

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Monday, March 12, 2018)- With Dollywood’s emphasis on show-stopping entertainment in 2018, the park’s annual Festival of Nations kicks off the new season with a multi-cultural event featuring world-renowned talent. The celebration takes place March 16-April 9 and lets guests take a trip around the world without leaving the Smokies.

This colorful, interactive event marks the beginning of Dollywood’s “Season of Showstoppers” with cultural music, food, and crafts that immerse the entire family in festive fun.

Grammy award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo have transcended musical barriers to produce awe-inspiring projects with artists such as Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, and even Dolly Parton herself. The group, which sings of peace, love and harmony, is in its sixth decade, and has produced more than 60 albums during its existence. They won their fifth Grammy in January, this time for Best World Music Album. The group gets its name from a combination of Ladysmith, South Africa (the group’s hometown), the color of oxen (one of the strongest farm animals), and the Zulu word for “chopping axe” (a symbol of the group’s vocal strength). Ladysmith Black Mambazo songs have been featured in multiple motion pictures, and the group even traveled to Norway with Nelson Mandela to perform when he received the Nobel Peace Prize. Guests can find this talented group at the Showstreet Palace Theater.

TENNESSEE - DOLLYWOOD ANNOUNCES SPRING MIX MUSIC SERIES SCHEDULE, FESTIVAL OF NATIONS LINEUP

Entertainment is in the spotlight during park’s 2018 season

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Thursday, January 18, 2018)—With Dollywood’s “Season of Showstoppers” now on the horizon, and with the buzz surrounding Dollywood’s Spring Mix continuing to grow, excited concert-goers can begin circling dates on the calendar as the lineup has been set for the park’s impressive new music series. During 2018, guests also will be treated to an exciting new Festival of Nations lineup, thrilling summer shows and more great entertainment throughout the season.

With so many new entertainment options (all included with park admission) available next year, Dollywood officials have developed a new option for guests looking to enjoy it all. New multi-day tickets allow guests to purchase tickets good for two or three days, providing them more flexibility to enjoy performances across multiple days during their visit to the award-winning park.

TENNESSEE - DOLLYWOOD ADDS OPERATING DAYS TO SMOKY MOUNTAIN CHRISTMAS

Park now open Jan. 2-3, 2018

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Thursday, November 16, 2017) — After receiving much feedback from guests, Dollywood officials have extended the park’s award-winning Smoky Mountain Christmas festival two days, with Tuesday, Jan. 2 and Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, now serving as operating days.

Due to a number of regional school systems remaining closed for Christmas break several days after the new year begins, many guests have asked for the park to remain open longer to allow families with students more opportunity to visit Dollywood during the hectic holiday season. Park hours are 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on both of the additional days.

The move comes after a strong fall which included the debut of Great Pumpkin LumiNights and the kickoff of Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana. The 2017 operating season, dubbed “The Year of the Family” by Dolly Parton, has already provided families with a number of exciting festivals, performing groups and two new attractions—Drop Line, a 230-ft. tall free fall experience, and Whistle Punk Chaser, a junior coaster designed for Dollywood’s younger visitors. The additional operating days provide families more time to enjoy Smoky Mountain memory making.

Five-story tall racing slide complex and other park upgrades to star in 2017


PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Tuesday, May 9, 2017)—As the days grow longer and the sun a little warmer, lifeguards at Dollywood’s Splash Country become more eager to open the gates for another season of Smoky Mountain water park fun. Opening day for 2017 is Saturday, May 13 when the park debuts a new family racing slide, attraction upgrades, new parking options, a new calming area, and newly-recognized Platinum Award-winning lifeguards.

The most anticipated new-comer to Dollywood’s Splash Country for 2017 is TailSpin Racer, a five-story slide complex that offers six people the opportunity to race each other in a thrilling rush. From its unique spiraling, high-speed AquaTubes to its splashdown finish, it’s an all-out competition to see who can get to the end first. TailSpin Racer matches riders in a head-to-head race with the fun of a traditional mat racer-style slide and the tight turns and daring drops of an enclosed slide. Guests will immediately spot the new attraction near the front of the water park, which only adds to the excitement.

TENNESSEE - STAR-STUDDED SMOKY MOUNTAINS RISE TELETHON SET TO AIR TONIGHT

Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association all pledge large donations prior to start of telethon



PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016) — Nearly $500,000 of donations already have been committed before the Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund telethon has even started. The telethon, which will be broadcast on GAC, AXS-TV, RFD and The Heartland Network tonight at 8 p.m. (EST), already has received pledges from Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney and both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association (CMA).

The ACM donated $100,000 to the fund, with Taylor Swift matching the amount, while the CMA donated $125,000 accompanied by a matching donation by East Tennessean Kenny Chesney. Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam will make a special appearance during the telethon, which has grown to include a star-studded lineup of performers and phone bank operators. All of the celebrities are donating their time to help the effort.

“The donations that are already coming in are so special to me,” Dolly Parton explained. “It means there are a lot of people behind us and ready to help us. There is still so much need to support the people of the Smoky Mountains, but thanks to Taylor and Kenny and both the ACM and CMA for gettin’ us started with such huge donations.”

While the telethon is off to a good start, the need for funds is much greater. More than 1300 families have been displaced due to the wildfires which spread across Parton’s home area of Sevier County, Tennessee in late November. The entertainment icon established the Dollywood Foundation My People Fund to provide $1000 each month for six months to every family who lost their primary residence. Currently, the monthly pledge is in excess of $1.3 million each month. 

Artists donating their performances to the effort include: Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., Chris Stapleton, Reba McEntire, Alison Krauss, Michael W. Smith, Chris Janson, Big & Rich, LOCASH, Chris Young, Montgomery Gentry, Jamey Johnson, Cyndi Lauper, Don McLean, Amy Grant, Alabama, Aaron Lewis and Rhonda Vincent.
Although Dolly will be hosting the overall telethon, friends HLN’s Robin Meade, GAC’s Suzanne Alexander and Nan Kelly, The Bobby Bones Show’s Bobby Bones, SiriusXM’s Storme Warren, Crook & Chase hosts Lorriane Crook and Charlie Chase, Nash Night LIVE’s Shaun Parr and Elaina D. Smith, and TuneIn Country Roads’ Kelly Sutton will share hosting duties throughout the three-hour broadcast.

Celebrities donating their time to answer phones include: Paula Deen and her sons Bobby and Jamie, Chrisley Knows Best cast members Todd, Julie and Savannah, Moonshiners’ cast members Mark and Digger, Nashville’s Charles Esten, cast members of Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors, country hit-makers Chris & Mogane Stapleton, Terri Clark, Mark Wills, Lee Greenwood, Larry Gatlin, TG Sheppard, John Conlee, Ronnie McDowell, Kristian Bush, Tim Rushlow, T. Smoky Mountains Rise also will be simulcast across multiple radio chains, including iHeart Media's digital and select on-air platforms, Cumulus Media's NASH Nights LIVE, TuneIn's Country Roads channel, RURAL Radio on SiriusXM plus cross-promotion on The Highway, Prime Country, Y2Kountry and The Garth Channel, CBS Radio, ABC Radio Networks, and several other platforms which are set to be announced shortly. All of the artists are donating their performances to help the effort. The My People Fund will provide $1000 each month to Sevier County families whose homes are uninhabitable or were completely destroyed in the recent Smoky Mountain wildfires. Any family who lost their primary residence (renters and homeowners) due to the wildfires in Sevier County will be eligible. A pre-application for those affected is available at dollywoodfoundation.org.

During the telethon, viewers will be asked to call 1-866-CARE MORE to donate to the My People Fund.

TENNESSEE - DOLLY PARTON AND MORE PERFORM DURING DEC. 13 SMOKY MOUNTAINS RISE TELETHON

Great American Country to broadcast benefit for 
the My People Fund


PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016)— Dolly Parton and a number of her friends, including Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers and Alison Krauss, are set to perform during Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. (EST) on Great American Country (GAC).

The nationally-broadcast, three-hour telethon seeks to raise money for the Dollywood Foundation My People Fund, established by Parton, The Dollywood Company and Parton’s dinner theaters in the wake of last week’s wildfires in the entertainment icon’s home area of Sevier County, Tennessee. Smoky Mountains Rise also will be simulcast across multiple radio chains, including iHeart Media's digital and select on-air platforms, Cumulus Media's NASH Nights LIVE, TuneIn's Country Roads channel, and several other platforms which are set to be announced shortly. Additionally, other celebrities joining Smoky Mountains Rise will be announced in the coming days.

“My home in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee is some place special,” Parton said. “Wildfires have affected many of the people—my people—who live in those beautiful mountains. We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. I know it has been a trying time for my people and this assistance will help get them back on their feet.”

The My People Fund will provide $1000 each month to Sevier County families whose homes are uninhabitable or were completely destroyed in the recent Smoky Mountain wildfires. Any family who lost their primary residence (renters and homeowners) due to the wildfires in Sevier County will be eligible. A pre-application for those affected is available at dollywoodfoundation.org.

During the telethon, viewers will be asked to call 1-866-CARE MORE to donate to the My People Fund.

TENNESSEE - DOLLYWOOD FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES DETAILS FOR MY PEOPLE FUND

Fund already has raised more than $1 million; Need is much greater


PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Friday, Dec. 2, 2016)— Dolly Parton announced Wednesday evening the creation of the Dollywood Foundation My People Fund, established by Parton, The Dollywood Company, Parton’s dinner theaters and The Dollywood Foundation, to provide $1000 each month to Sevier County families whose homes are uninhabitable or were completely destroyed in the recent Smoky Mountain wildfires. In less than 36 hours, the fund already has raised more than $1 million, but the need is much greater.
