Ah, the nostalgia! Remember the good ol' days of watching The Orlando Eye progress from a simple base to a full-fledged super structure? Seems like forever ago now that the I-Drive 360 complex is so well-established and thriving as one of the most unique and diverse entertainment districts in Orlando, but the (now) Coca-Cola Orlando Eye only started spinning guests high into the sky little more than two years ago. So much has changed in that brief period of time!

Madame Tussauds Orlando Welcomes President-Elect Trump’s Arrival

Orlando attraction welcomes new presidential figure
to the Oval Office

Orlando, Fla. – Jan. 19, 2017 - Madame Tussauds Orlando has welcomed President-Elect Donald Trump’s wax figure. The figure will be on display in the Orlando attraction’s Oval Office themed room on Jan. 19, just ahead of Inauguration Day in Washington D.C.

It took artists and sculptors six months to create the figure, from the sculpting of the clay head to the insertion of thousands of individual hairs, to create the lifelike representation found in Madame Tussauds wax figures.

Trump will be the first president to have already had a famed Madame Tussauds wax figure. He conducted a detailed sitting for his previous figure at Trump Tower New York in 1997 where Madame Tussauds artists took hundreds of measurements and photographs for reference. Trump’s figure will be featured at Madame Tussauds locations in Orlando, Washington D.C., New York and London.

Go Big or Go Home: I-Drive 360 Makes Its Grand Debut

If you have been anywhere near Orlando lately, you certainly haven't missed the amazing developments taking place along International Drive. I-Drive 360 has been an ongoing phase project that finally hit its pinnacle with the Grand Opening of The Orlando Eye, Madame Tussaud's, Sea Life Aquarium and Skeletons - Animals Unveiled this week. Last week, Merlin Entertainment treated long-supportive media guests to an unparalleled preview of their latest ventures, and Skeletons hosted a soft opening. It was a non-stop blast of incredible entertainment and much-anticipated introductions to some of Orlando's newest, greatest amusements.

While most of my reports are very verbose and in-depth with descriptives, this is truly a case where pictures (and videos) are worth a thousand words. I'll go against my norm and let the visuals tell most of the story here. Sit back and enjoy a fun-filled week at I-Drive 360!

I-Drive 360 - What's the BIG Deal?

Reprint from original publishing on December 4, 2014
The introduction of Walt Disney World in 1971 changed the Central Florida landscape forever, and since then, Orlando has continued to evolve as a top vacation destination. With the latest and greatest amusements and attractions constantly springing up around us, it's no longer a one-trick pony. Universal Studios and Sea World compete heavily with the Walt Disney World Resort. Midway style amusement centers like Fun Spot are making great strides in the tourism industry, and wildlife parks like Gatorland (which was here well before Mickey Mouse) are always a favorite. We've got unique adventures, historical tributes, scientific exhibits, and we're making fantastic progress in the performing arts. Orlando has it all... or does it? Brace yourselves - residents and visitors alike - because here we grow again!

Tin Roof Opens at I-Drive 360

Reprint from original publishing on January 11, 2015
Last month, I was lucky enough to receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the I-Drive 360 construction site. Great timing also allowed me a glimpse into the progress at Tin Roof, a "live music joint" which was in the final stages of construction at that time. I met with Regional Manager William Hodges for a little pre-opening insight, and his enthusiasm was beyond contagious. I could see how the place was coming together, and even in dusty construction mode, it was appealing on a level that excited me. I don't usually get overly excited about a restaurant, but then again... that's not quite what Tin Roof is!

The Orlando Eye Reaches Another Milestone - The Final Capsule Installation

On February 5, The Orlando Eye marked a significant milestone - the addition of the final capsule to the 400 ft. tall observation wheel. I've been keeping "capsule watch" during the process, and it seemed that every day brought a new count. I was on-hand for the installation of the first capsule, and it seemed even more important to witness the 30th.
