Artistic Tribute to Pulse Victims & Survivors Now Permanently Installed at Orlando Science Center


Orlando artist Christy McCutchen was commissioned to design and build the piece.

ORLANDO, Fla. (May 10, 2018) — Orlando Science Center has unveiled a mixed media art installation that local artist Christy McCutchen custom-created as a tribute to victims and survivors of the Pulse nightclub tragedy. The piece will remain on display permanently at the Science Center, along with other pieces in the newly renovated Fusion: A STEAM Gallery exhibit area.
Background Information
After the 2016 tragedy, Orlando Science Center invited members of the community to write messages of love and fold their notes into origami hearts. The rainbow-colored hearts were hung on OSC’s bridge entrance in 49 rows with 49 hearts per row.

MEGACON™ ORLANDO ANNOUNCES $18,405 DONATION TO EQUALITY FLORIDA

Megacon’s ‘May 2017 Orlando Convention’s Love Is Love’ Event Raised Funds and Awareness
 
Orlando, FL – August 7, 2017 – MegaCon™, the Southeast’s largest fan conventions with shows in both Orlando and Tampa Bay, is proud to announce their Love is Love events during MegaCon Orlando 2017 raised $18,405.21. The proceeds raised have been donated to Equality Florida, Florida’s civil rights organization dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. 

MegaCon Orlando came together with Marc Andreyko’s (DC Comics) Love is Love project to host a weekend of programming to honor the victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre during MegaCon Orlando in May at the Orange County Convention Center. The weekend began with a cocktail reception and book signing on Friday, May 26, which brought together some of the comic industry’s top talent including George Perez, Tom King, Scott Snyder, Gail Simone, Cat Staggs and Dan Didio, as well as Love is Love project creator Marc Andreyko. The programming ran throughout the weekend leading up to a live art auction on Saturday, May 27.

MegaCon™, the Southeast’s largest fan conventions with shows in both Orlando and Tampa Bay, has come together with Marc Andreyko’s (DC Comics) Love is Love project to host a weekend of programming to honor the victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre during MegaCon Orlando, May 25-28, 2017 at the Orange County Convention Center. The proceeds will benefit Equality Florida, Florida’s civil rights leader working for the LGBT community.
