WHAT’S NEW IN VERO BEACH FOR VISITORS TO CHECK OUT IN 2019

There are always new treasures to uncover along
the Florida Treasure Coast

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. (Nov. 13, 2018) – Return to Vero Beach this winter and you’ll be welcomed back by the 26 miles of waterfront unobstructed by high rises and thus noted for its sunrises. You’ll also enjoy the tried and true eateries, recreational areas, events and friendly locals.  But there are numerous new treasures to discover too.  Here’s just a sampling:

Smiley Riley’s Ice Cream Lounge taps into the national fad of creating alcohol-infused ice cream delights such as toasty sm’ores with rum and 13 other adult flavors, along with kiddie-approved flavors too.  It’s a new happy hour indulgence.  Newly opened in September, the mother-daughter owned shoppe is open Tuesday-Friday afternoons 4-11pm and Saturday and Sunday 2-11pm. Smiley Riley’s Ice Cream Lounge at the corner of U.S. 1 and Oslo Road, Vero Beach. (772) 226-0466.

Tour of Florida - Discover the Treasure Coast

Our recent attendance at the 2018 Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism was inspiring, to say the very least. Based on the information we gathered at the event, we have selected a few highlighted locations to spotlight on a virtual "tour" of Florida. These articles will be released in a series - each featuring a different location. For more information on the destinations we're featuring, please click here. You can also check out the previously published features on Amelia IslandBradenton Gulf Islands, and Florida's Historic CoastPlease note - information contained in this feature is not based on firsthand experience, but from promotional materials put out by representatives of the featured location at the 2018 Governor's Conference.

-OVERVIEW-

Situated along Florida’s Treasure Coast on the Atlantic Ocean, the communities of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Fellsmere are the geographical starting point for the Florida tropics, with winter temperatures rarely dipping below 70° (21°C). The county is centrally located 70 miles south of the Kennedy Space Center and 135 miles north of Miami. The destination resides at the intersection of green and glamorous, with 100,000 conservation acres, 26 miles of pristine beaches and a treasure trove of cultural attractions. Hotels and resorts with rooftops no higher than swaying palm trees support the destination’s motto “Sunrises, not High Rises.”

A Tour of Florida From the 2018 Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism

Perhaps this won't qualify as our meatiest post ever, but it stands solid as a worthy snippet to use as a sort of announcement and "teaser" if you will.

Last week, we attended the 2018 Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism at the Omni Resort. Although we were only able to make it for one day of the three-day event, there was a remarkable amount of knowledge and connection to be made in that brief visit!

The Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism featured a fantastic array of speakers and educational tracks of great value to members of the hospitality and tourism industry - most notably, in marketing and customer outreach. We explored the changing profile of today's Florida traveler, the incoming generation of travelers, evolving trends, emerging businesses, and much more. Perhaps most importantly, we explored our beautiful state from a centralized gathering of like-minded people who all have a vested interest in continuing to perfect our travel game overall.

This was our first time attending the Governor's Conference, and we were so impressed and inspired by the knowledge we gained at the event that we decided to share some fun with you! For quite a while now, we've been expanding our reach to report news from other popular destinations, and lesser-known spots as well. From time to time, we even venture out for firsthand feature reports from locations "Beyond Orlando" (as we call this segment of coverage). Thanks to some handy new info we gathered at the Governor's Conference, we've selected a few of the locations that really caught our attention, and we're going to explore them a bit more. While this little mini-project is still in the planning stages, we do want to share the list of locations with you now.

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE..........

Stay tuned for more details on our developing "Tour of Florida" - which could certainly grow to include other locations in the future. If you happen to be located in or near one of our current featured spots, we would love to talk to you as an expert consultant as well. Email dawn@comeseeorlando.com with your location in the subject line, and let's chat today!
