Bronze Memorial to Mark 50th Anniversary of First Lunar Landing

CAPE CANAVERAL (May 14, 2019) – KENNEDY SPACE CENTER – In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans, the nation’s largest mortgage lender, and Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex today announced a new partnership to create a one-of-a-kind bronze statue honoring the legendary crewmembers of the spaceflight that landed the first two people on the Moon. The statue will depict Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, and will be the focal point of the new Moon Tree Garden, which will be located outside of the Apollo/Saturn V Center.

TEXAS - First-Ever Luxury Space Hotel, Aurora Station, to Offer Authentic Astronaut Experiences

Launched by Orion Span, Aurora Station Will Host Immersive 12-Day Trips Beginning in 2022; Now Accepting Deposits

HOUSTON, April 5, 2018 - The first-ever luxury space hotel was introduced today during the Space 2.0 Summit in San Jose, California. Named after the magical light phenomenon that illuminates the Earth's polar skies, Aurora Station is being developed by Orion Span and the company's team of space industry veterans, who have over 140 years of human space experience.

The first fully modular space station to ever debut, Aurora Station will operate as the first luxury hotel in space. The exclusive hotel will host six people at a time – including two crew members. Space travelers will enjoy a completely authentic, once-in-a-lifetime astronaut experience with extraordinary adventure during their 12-day journey, starting at $9.5M per person. Deposits are now being accepted for a future stay on Aurora Station, which is slated to launch in late 2021 and host its first guests in 2022. The fully refundable deposit is $80,000 per person and can be reserved online here.

Weeklong space celebration culminates in Winter Sky Festival on Jan. 27, with 4,000 expected attendees.
SANFORD, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2018) – Seminole State College of Florida, home to the Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust Planetarium, will showcase the planetarium’s capabilities and the far-reaching impacts of space exploration during Space Week 2018. The weeklong celebration, which begins Jan. 19, is sponsored by CFE Federal Credit Union and culminates in the Winter Sky Festival, the largest astronomy-themed event held annually in Florida. With the exception of the laser shows, all events are free and open to the public.
“‘Space Week is about connecting our community to the cosmos,” said Michael McConville, coordinator of the Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State. “This year’s Space Week is bigger and better than ever, with a focus on engaging events that can inspire our visitors, regardless of their age or background. Astronomy really is for everyone, and we want to do our part to facilitate that fact as much as possible.”
